At Orqa, we’re building technology that allows humans and machines to see the world like never before. We bring together engineers, creators, and innovators who push the boundaries of what’s possible - from cutting-edge FPV systems to advanced Remote Reality solutions, and toward the next generation of robotics. And behind every great technology, there’s great organization.
We’re looking for a Junior Mechatronics Engineer to join our team and assist in designing, building, and optimizing automated tether management systems for our unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
In this role, you’ll work at the intersection of mechanical design, power electronics, and control systems, supporting the development of intelligent winch stations that provide continuous power, secure data links, and dynamic tension control. You will focus on component-level modeling, rapid prototyping, and hands-on lab and field testing to ensure system reliability under dynamic operational conditions.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Focus on component-level 3D CAD modeling, drafting technical documentation, and maintaining design files
Build, assemble, and iteratively test prototypes for motorized spooling mechanisms, level-winders, and low-friction cable guides
Assist with physical lab and field testing under various environmental and dynamic load conditions
Help integrate and test electromechanical components, including brushless DC motors, slip rings, and tension sensors
Support embedded system setup and motor control testing (PID tuning, motor drivers, sensor integration)
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to solve friction, power, and dynamic load challenges
WHAT WE EXPECT
0–2 years of experience with a B.S. or M.S. in Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Fusion 360, NX)
Basic experience or coursework in embedded systems, motor control, and sensor integration
Understanding of basic power transmission, heat dissipation, and mechanical design fundamentals
A hands-on mindset with strong problem-solving skills and eager readiness to learn
Professional working proficiency in English
NICE TO HAVE
Prior experience working with robotics, UAVs, or automated winding/spooling machinery
