About Orqa FPV

Founded in 2018 in Croatia, Orqa has grown from a hardware consulting firm into one of Europe’s leading drone technology companies. We design and manufacture advanced FPV and unmanned systems used by enterprise, industrial, and defense clients worldwide. With fully vertically integrated operations — covering design, electronics, optics, firmware, software, and in-house manufacturing — we maintain complete control over quality, performance, and supply chain reliability. This allows us to iterate quickly, optimize every part of the system, and deliver products that meet demanding real-world requirements. Today, Orqa products are used in more than 50 countries, with over 100,000 units delivered in 2024. Our mission is to build the enabling technologies for the future of Remote Reality and set new standards in the aerial robotics industry.

At Orqa, we’re building technology that allows humans and machines to see the world like never before. We bring together engineers, creators, and innovators who push the boundaries of what’s possible - from cutting-edge FPV systems to advanced Remote Reality solutions, and toward the next generation of robotics. And behind every great technology, there’s great organization.

We're looking for an Electric Powertrain Engineer to help design and optimize the propulsion systems behind our next generation of UAV platforms.

In this role, you'll be responsible for defining and optimizing the architecture of electric powertrain systems that directly impact endurance, payload capacity, efficiency, and reliability.  Working alongside multidisciplinary engineering teams, you'll help transform advanced concepts into production-ready aerial systems.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Design, integrate, and validate electric powertrain systems for UAV platforms

  • Select and size motors, propellers, ESCs, batteries, wiring, and power distribution components

  • Define and optimize system performance targets related to endurance, payload capacity, efficiency, thermal behavior, and reliability

  • Develop and execute propulsion testing and validation activities

  • Analyze test results and flight data to improve system performance and reliability

  • Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, avionics, battery, and manufacturing teams

  • Investigate technical issues and perform root-cause analysis

  • Create technical documentation and support production readiness activities

WHAT WE EXPECT

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, or a related field

  • 3+ years of experience developing electric propulsion or powertrain systems for UAVs, robotics, electric vehicles, e-bikes, industrial equipment, or similar electromechanical products

  • Hands-on experience with motors, ESCs, battery systems, BMS solutions, and power distribution systems

  • Strong understanding of efficiency, thermal behavior, battery performance, and system-level optimization

  • Experience with testing, validation, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis

  • Strong analytical thinking, practical engineering skills, and clear technical communication

NICE TO HAVE

  • Experience with UAV, drone, aerospace, or advanced robotics platforms

  • Experience with multirotor and/or fixed-wing electric propulsion systems

  • Knowledge of Li-ion and LiPo battery technologies

  • Familiarity with CAN, UART, PWM, DShot, or telemetry protocols

  • Experience with MATLAB, Python, LabVIEW, or similar engineering tools
