At Orqa, we’re building technology that allows humans and machines to see the world like never before. We bring together engineers, creators, and innovators who push the boundaries of what’s possible – from cutting-edge FPV systems to advanced Remote Reality solutions, and toward the next generation of robotics. And behind every great technology, there’s great organization.
We’re looking for a Drone Flight Test Engineer to play a key role in validating, optimizing, and ensuring the absolute quality of our hardware and software solutions.
In this role, you’ll serve as the vital link between real-world flight dynamics and our core engineering teams. Using your advanced FPV and LOS piloting skills, you will push experimental drones and software to their absolute operational limits to uncover edge-case bugs. By combining hands-on piloting precision with firmware code literacy and telemetry log analysis, you’ll actively participate in PID tuning, dynamic optimization, and guiding the development of next-generation flight algorithms.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Conduct daily flight testing of experimental firmware using advanced FPV (Acro/Manual) and Line-of-Sight (LOS) techniques to validate system stability and new features
Design target test maneuvers based on flight control code to intentionally stress the system and uncover edge cases, algorithm bugs, and logic flaws
Perform system tuning and optimization, including PID loop tuning, noise filtering setup (Gyro/RPM), and aerodynamic behavior adjustments
Analyze Blackbox and telemetry logs to pinpoint hardware bottlenecks or software issues, translating physical flight characteristics into precise technical tickets for developers
Maintain strict field-testing safety protocols and take ownership of the test fleet and associated equipment
WHAT WE EXPECT
Advanced FPV and Line-of-Sight (LOS) piloting skills, with the reflexes to safely handle experimental systems and the precision to consistently repeat complex test scenarios
Technical and code literacy (C/C++)—ability to read, navigate, and understand flight control codebases alongside basic Git version control workflows
Deep understanding of flight controllers, ESCs, sensors, and flight control software architectures
Strong analytical skills with hands-on experience in telemetry/Blackbox log analysis, PID loop behavior, and signal filtering
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills to articulate complex flight anomalies to software engineers
Professional working proficiency in English (both written and spoken)
Our office is a drone testing playground, and every day starts with an idea no one has tried before. We move fast, learn constantly, and foster a culture of innovation. With flexible working hours, real hands-on testing, and a team that challenges the limits of technology, working at Orqa means working on the edge of what’s possible.
